Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing – A Day of Heritage & Spiritual Wonders

Discover the cultural soul of Nepal with our immersive full-day Kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour — an unforgettable journey through five of the city's most sacred and historic landmarks. Guided by our experienced local expert, this day tour offers deep insight into the spiritual and architectural wonders that make Kathmandu a living museum.

Boudhanath Stupa – The Spiritual Heart of Tibetan Buddhism

Start your morning at Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest spherical stupas in the world. Surrounded by vibrant prayer flags and spinning prayer wheels, the peaceful ambience and Tibetan chants create a powerful spiritual atmosphere. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a center for Buddhist learning and rituals — a must-visit for anyone seeking inner peace.

Pashupatinath Temple – Sacred Hindu Pilgrimage Site

Next, we visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal’s most revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located along the holy Bagmati River, this sacred complex is a place of worship, cremation rituals, and deep spiritual significance. Though only Hindus may enter the main temple, visitors can witness ancient traditions and unique temple architecture from the opposite riverbank.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square – The Timeless City of Art

Travel east to the medieval city of Bhaktapur, where cobblestone lanes lead you to the majestic Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Famous for its well-preserved temples, courtyards, and intricate wood carvings, highlights include the 55-Window Palace, Golden Gate, and Nyatapola Temple. This ancient royal square offers a glimpse into Nepal’s artistic and architectural brilliance.

Patan Durbar Square – A Living Museum of Newar Culture

We then head south to the elegant Patan Durbar Square, located near Patan Dhoka. This historic complex is a masterpiece of Newar craftsmanship, adorned with bronze statues, stone temples, and traditional courtyards. Don't miss the Krishna Mandir and the Patan Museum, where the richness of Kathmandu Valley’s heritage is beautifully displayed.

Swayambhunath Stupa – The Monkey Temple with a View

End your day atop the scenic hill of Swayambhunath, famously known as the Monkey Temple. This ancient stupa offers sweeping views of the Kathmandu Valley and is a sacred site for both Buddhists and Hindus. The glimmering golden spire, the all-seeing eyes of Buddha, and the fluttering prayer flags make it a perfect spiritual finale to your cultural day tour.

AcclimatizationScenic Hike to Everest View Point and Khumjung Village (3,780m)

Today is a special day in your Everest journey — a perfect balance of rest and adventure. While we remain in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization, we’ll also take a rewarding day hike to explore higher elevations and soak in some of the most iconic views in the Khumbu region.

After a warm breakfast with the backdrop of surrounding hills, we begin our gradual ascent toward the Everest View Point, a panoramic spot above Namche that lives up to its name. As you climb the stone steps, the Himalayas slowly unfold, and on clear days, you’ll witness majestic peaks like Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse, and the mighty Everest itself rising proudly in the distance.

From the viewpoint, we continue towards Khumjung Village, one of the largest Sherpa settlements in the region. Nestled beneath the sacred Khumbila mountain, this peaceful village offers an authentic glimpse into Sherpa culture, local stone houses, yak pastures, and the famous Khumjung Monastery, which is believed to house a mysterious yeti scalp.

We enjoy a relaxing lunch in Khumjung, surrounded by mountain views and quiet charm. After soaking in the atmosphere and perhaps visiting the local school built by Sir Edmund Hillary’s foundation, we begin our descent back to Namche Bazaar in the afternoon.

Although today is an acclimatization day, the gentle hike to higher altitude helps your body adjust naturally while offering a full day of discovery, photography, and high-mountain beauty. Evening in Namche is yours to relax — sip warm tea, explore the market, or visit a local bakery.

Today’s trek is one of the most memorable sections of the Everest region trail blending panoramic Himalayan views with rich cultural heritage and serene forest paths. We begin our day after breakfast in Namche Bazaar, following a short 20-minute ascent that gradually opens up to one of the most spectacular stretches of the trek.

The trail then levels out and leads us along a scenic ridge, offering breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Thamserku, and other towering giants. Every step feels like walking through a postcard, with the mountains so close it feels like you can touch them.

After reaching the small settlement of Sansa, the path begins to descend steeply through pine and rhododendron forests, winding down to the peaceful riverside hamlet of Phunki Thanga (3,250m). This is where we stop for a well-earned lunch, with the soothing sound of the Dudh Koshi River in the background. Here, we also check our permits at the army post before beginning the final leg of the day.

From Phunki Thanga, the trail climbs steadily uphill through shaded woods, lined with moss-covered trees and mountain birdsong. This section requires effort, but the surroundings offer a peaceful rhythm for trekkers. After the climb, we reach the spiritual heart of the Khumbu — Tengboche.

Famous for its ancient Tengboche Monastery, this site is deeply sacred to the Sherpa community. With a history dating back to 1916, the monastery is the largest in the region and holds deep cultural and spiritual importance. On clear days, it stands beautifully against a backdrop of Mount Everest and Ama Dablam, making it one of the most iconic viewpoints in the entire trek.

Tonight, we stay in a local teahouse near the monastery, where you can witness monks performing evening prayers, explore the surroundings, or simply absorb the tranquility of this Himalayan sanctuary.

After a peaceful morning in the spiritual village of Tengboche, we begin our journey deeper into the Khumbu Valley with unforgettable views all around. The day starts with a short descent through rhododendron forest to the quiet settlement of Debuche, where prayer flags flutter gently in the alpine breeze and Ama Dablam looms gracefully in the sky.

From Debuche, the trail follows a gentle and peaceful path through scattered juniper trees and small chortens. We soon arrive at a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, a stunning spot for photography — especially with the majestic face of Mount Ama Dablam perfectly framed above the valley.

Crossing the bridge, the trail begins a gradual uphill climb toward Pangboche, one of the oldest Sherpa villages in the region. The scenery is wide open now, and the walk feels quiet and meditative, with yaks grazing along the trail and towering peaks in every direction.

Beyond Pangboche, the landscape becomes even more dramatic as we walk a gentle trail across high alpine terrain. After a couple of hours, we reach Somare, a quiet village where we stop for a peaceful lunch with mountain views.

In the afternoon, the trail continues along a broad, open valley, leading us to a spectacular junction — where two rivers meet: one flowing from the Khumbu Glacier near Everest Base Camp, and the other from the Imja Valley and Imja Tsho glacial lake. This is a unique geographical point that reminds trekkers of the vast scale of the Himalayan landscape.

Soon after, we reach Dingboche, a windswept mountain village nestled beneath the dramatic faces of Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Taboche, and Island Peak. Surrounded by stone-walled fields and dry yak pastures, Dingboche is the perfect place to acclimatize for the days ahead. Acclimatization Day in Dingboche | Hike to Nangkartshang Hill-5100m

Today is a crucial part of your high-altitude journey — a day dedicated to acclimatization and adjustment, but far from a rest in the usual sense. After a nourishing breakfast at 7:30 AM, we set out on an uphill hike to Nangkartshang Hill, a rocky ridge rising high above Dingboche that offers one of the most spectacular panoramic viewpoints in the entire Khumbu region.

The ascent is steady but rewarding, climbing several hundred meters over rugged alpine terrain. The trail winds upward through dry slopes dotted with tiny alpine shrubs, where you may spot Himalayan birds or grazing yaks on the valley floor below. The air thins as we rise, and the views grow broader and more dramatic with every step.

From the summit ridge, a 360-degree Himalayan panorama unfolds — an awe-inspiring gallery of giants. To the north, the majestic Lhotse wall dominates the skyline; to the east, the elegant pyramid of Makalu, the fifth highest mountain in the world, pierces the clouds. The stunning Ama Dablam stands proudly in the south, while Island Peak and the icy Imja Valley stretch toward the horizon. On a clear day, you may even glimpse the tip of Cho Oyu in the distance.

This high-point hike is not only essential for altitude adaptation but also a chance to absorb the raw grandeur of the Himalayas in complete silence, far from the crowds. After enjoying the views, photography, and a well-earned rest, we carefully descend back to Dingboche in time for a warm lunch.

The afternoon is yours to rest, explore the village, or relax at the teahouse — with breathtaking views of Taboche, Cholatse, and the upper Imja Valley right outside your window. Tonight, sleep comes deeper as your body adjusts to the altitude, preparing you for the journey ahead toward Everest Base Camp.

Trek from Dingboche (4,410m) to Lobuche (4,910m)

Trek Duration: 6–7 hours | Distance: - 8 km | Elevation Gain:- 500m

Start your morning early in the tranquil Himalayan air with a nutritious breakfast at 7:00 AM in the peaceful village of Dingboche, nestled beneath the soaring peaks of Ama Dablam and Lhotse. Today’s journey offers an incredible blend of raw alpine landscapes, historical sites, and panoramic Himalayan views that will stay in your memory for a lifetime.

The first section of the trail ascends gently to the shoulder above Dingboche, offering wide-angle views of the Imja Valley behind and the icy pinnacles ahead. As we walk higher, the terrain opens into a vast yak meadow where you may encounter grazing herds in the fresh high-altitude breeze. The trail is mostly straight along the mountain slope, with dramatic views of Taboche Peak, Cholatse, Ama Dablam, and glimpses of Pumori in the far distance.

By midday, we reach the small settlement of Thukla, where we pause for a warm lunch at a teahouse beside the glacial stream. Thukla is where the landscape begins to shift—greener pastures give way to a more rugged, glacial world. Fuel up well, as the next section of the trail requires some effort.

After lunch, we tackle the steep climb to Thukla Pass (4,830m). Though the ascent is short, it is physically demanding due to the elevation. At the top, a powerful and emotional scene awaits—a stone memorial site built in honor of climbers who lost their lives while attempting Everest and other Himalayan giants. This graveyard-like museum among the mountains reminds us of both the beauty and intensity of the region.

From the pass, the trail gently ascends along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. The path to Lobuche is dramatic and scenic, with glacial rivers, ice-carved ridges, and snow-capped giants towering around you. By mid to late afternoon, we arrive at Lobuche village, a small but vital outpost for trekkers heading toward Everest Base Camp.

After checking in to our cozy teahouse and enjoying a warm welcome drink, we take a short acclimatization hike around the Lobuche area. This is a great time to soak in the stunning views of Nuptse, Pumori, and Khumbu Glacier's edge as the sun casts golden hues over the rugged terrain.

Lobuche -Gorakshep | Everest Base Camp and Return

Total Trek Duration: 9–10 hours | Distance:-12 km (round trip)

Start your ultimate Everest adventure with a hot breakfast at 7:00 AM in the quiet, high-altitude village of Lobuche. By 7:30 AM, we begin one of the most thrilling and rewarding days of the entire Everest Base Camp Trek, guided by the experienced team at Simrik Real Nepal Treks.

From Lobuche, the trail gradually climbs up to Lobuche Pass, offering sweeping views of the Khumbu Glacier and surrounding snowy peaks. As we gain elevation, Mt. Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse come into view, giving a thrilling glimpse into the towering world of the Himalayas.

Crossing Lobuche Pass (5,110m), we enter a more rugged and icy terrain, trekking alongside the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. The trail is uneven and filled with rocky debris but manageable with care. The silence of the high mountains, broken only by crunching footsteps and fluttering prayer flags, makes this part of the trek spiritually profound. We reach Gorakshep, the last settlement before Everest Base Camp, in time for a hearty lunch. Gorakshep lies in a sandy basin beneath the dramatic peaks of Pumori and Nuptse, making it a perfect staging point for our next adventure.

After lunch and a brief rest, we begin our hike to the iconic Everest Base Camp (5,364m)—the ultimate goal of trekkers worldwide. The trail winds across rocky glacial paths, weaving over ice ridges and shifting stones, always accompanied by jaw-dropping views of Mount Everest’s western shoulder, Lho La, and Khumbu Icefall.

This is the most anticipated moment of the entire journey—standing at the actual Everest Base Camp, where mountaineers begin their climb toward the highest point on Earth. Though Everest’s summit is not visible from Base Camp itself, you will feel its immense presence as you stand on the very ground where history is made.

Take your time to absorb the experience, capture unforgettable photographs, and celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime achievement under the towering shadow of the Khumbu Icefall.

After soaking in the energy of Everest Base Camp, we retrace our steps to Gorakshep, arriving by early evening. A warm drink and cozy rest await as the sun begins to dip behind the Himalayan ridgelines.

Mt. Pumori (7,161m) – A stunning pyramid-shaped peak visible throughout the day.Nuptse (7,861m) – Close and imposing, guarding Everest’s southwest face. Khumbutse & Lingtren – Jagged peaks bordering Tibet.Changri Glacier & Khumbu Glacier – The heart of the icefields leading to Everest. Mount Everest (8,848.86m) – While the summit is best seen from Kala Patthar, its western face and icefall are visible en route.

Early Morning Hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m)

At 4:00 AM, we start the hike in the silent chill of the early Himalayan dawn, equipped with headlamps and warm layers. The climb to Kala Patthar is steep but gradual, taking about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace and acclimatization.

As we ascend, the sky turns gold behind the icy horizon, and by the time we reach the summit, the first rays of sunlight begin to touch the peaks of the highest mountains on Earth. This is a sacred moment in the trek—raw, silent, unforgettable.

Mountain Views from Kala Patthar

Kala Patthar offers the best accessible viewpoint of Mount Everest (8,848.86m), closer and clearer than from Everest Base Camp. From this vantage point, you'll enjoy:

Mount Everest in full glory, glowing in golden light. Nuptse and Lhotse, standing powerfully alongside. Ama Dablam, elegant and dramatic to the southeast.

Pumori, towering directly behind Kala Patthar. Khumbu Glacier and Icefall, winding dramatically through the valley. This view is unmatched—a 360° Himalayan panorama that’s worth every step.

Breakfast at Gorakshep and Descent

After spending time soaking in the sunrise at Kala Patthar, we descend back to Gorakshep for a well-earned breakfast around 8:00 AM. After packing up, we begin our descent toward Pheriche, marking the beginning of our return journey.

Descent to Pheriche via Lobuche and Thukla

We retrace our steps through Lobuche and Thukla, enjoying a different perspective of the surrounding landscapes. Descending is easier on the lungs, and the views remain impressive, with the Khumbu Glacier and snow-covered giants accompanying us along the trail. At Thukla, instead of returning to Dingboche, we take a different route toward Pheriche, following the lower trail that opens into a wide alpine valley with a river cutting through its center.

Welcome to Pheriche

Nestled in a broad valley surrounded by mountains, Pheriche (4,240m) is a peaceful Sherpa village known for its flat, wide pastures and acclimatization clinic managed by the Himalayan Rescue Association. The air feels thicker here, making it a welcome relief after several days above 5,000 meters. We check into a cozy teahouse, rest our legs, and reflect on a monumental day of trekking.

Overnight Stay in Pheriche

Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay in Pheriche, with warm hospitality, hearty meals, and breathtaking evening views of Ama Dablam, Tawache, and surrounding ridges.

Today is the final stage of your unforgettable Himalayan journey with Simrik Nepal Treks. After days of exploring the Everest region’s towering peaks, remote trails, and vibrant Sherpa culture, we begin the homeward journey with a morning flight from Lukla Airport, one of the most iconic high-altitude airstrips in the world.
Morning Flight from Lukla
After an early breakfast, we head to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, located at 2,860 meters above sea level. Depending on seasonal air traffic and weather patterns, your flight will land either in Kathmandu or Manthali (Ramechhap).
Lukla to Kathmandu
If your flight is scheduled directly to Kathmandu, it will depart around 6:30 AM and arrive in the capital by 7:05 AM (subject to change based on air traffic and visibility). During this 35-minute flight, enjoy stunning aerial views of the Khumbu region, green hills, and the urban sprawl of Kathmandu valley.
Lukla to Manthali
If your flight is routed to Manthali, it will take off around 6:15 AM and land at 6:35 AM. Manthali Airport is located in Ramechhap District and is a smaller regional airstrip used during peak trekking seasons.
Drive from Manthali to Kathmandu
Upon landing in Manthali, our private vehicle will be waiting to greet you. The journey from Manthali to Kathmandu is approximately 135 kilometers and takes around 4 to 5 hours, depending on road and traffic conditions.
The road winds through scenic countryside, with terraced fields, riverside villages, and mid-hill forests. Expect a bumpy yet picturesque ride, especially during the monsoon or post-rainy seasons. We’ll make comfort stops along the way for refreshments and short breaks. You’ll arrive in Kathmandu by early to mid-afternoon, with time to check into your hotel and enjoy a restful evening in the city.
Highlights of the Day
Fly from one of the world’s most thrilling airports. Aerial views of Everest, Lhotse, and the Himalayan ranges. Scenic countryside drive (if via Manthali) through Nepal’s rural heartland. Return to the lively streets and comforts of Kathmandu
Important Note: Flight routes are subject to seasonal changes and weather conditions. Simrik Nepal Treks ensures all logistics—from flights to private transfers—are arranged for your comfort, safety, and peace of mind.
