To get to the base camp during the Amadablam Expedition, three camps are established. The route that is generally used for the Amadablam Expedition is the one on the south west ridge. Many people have however used a number of different routes on the Amadablam Expedition and some of these routes are quite difficult. Apart from one very brief portion on the Amadablam Expedition, the climb is not quite difficult on the south west ridge and is considerately safe.

On the Amadablam Expedition, climbers must be proficient in rock and ice climbing as well as have the competence and the fitness for the adventure.
