How to get from Lukla to Kathmandu After your Island peak

After completing your Everest trek, you can return from Lukla to Kathmandu either by direct flight or via Ramechhap (Manthali). Option 1: Take a direct Lukla to Kathmandu flight, which takes about 30–35 minutes (weather permitting). Option 2: Fly from Lukla to Ramechhap Airport (Manthali). This short flight usually takes around 20 minutes. From Ramechhap, it’s a 5-hour drive to Kathmandu by jeep. Due to Kathmandu airport congestion, many Lukla flights now operate via Ramechhap, especially during peak trekking seasons. Always check your flight route in advance and plan your onward travel accordingly. This route is part of the popular Everest Base Camp trek itinerary, so staying informed helps ensure a smooth and stress free return journey.
